About Our Church

Serving Rankin Since 1915

Meet Pastor Mandy

Rev. Mandy Stanford

Pastor Mandy Stanford brings a heart for small-town ministry and a passion for making faith accessible to everyone. Originally from Wisconsin, she found her calling in West Texas, where she’s been serving rural communities since 2018.

She holds a Master of Divinity and is licensed as a Local Pastor in the United Methodist Church. But beyond the degrees and credentials, Pastor Mandy is known for her down-to-earth preaching, her love of a good conversation over coffee, and her belief that church should be a place where everyone belongs.

When she’s not at the church, you’ll find her working with the Rankin Ministerial Alliance to serve families in need, spending time with her family, or enjoying the beautiful West Texas sunsets.

Our Story

First United Methodist Church of Rankin has been a beacon of faith in Upton County since 1915. For over a century, we’ve been the first church in this county, witnessing the growth and changes of our community while remaining steadfast in our mission to share God’s love.

Through oil booms and busts, through drought and rain, through generations of families, this church has been a constant presence – a place where people gather to worship, to celebrate, to mourn, and to support one another.

Our beautiful stone building at 801 Halff Street stands as a testament to the faith and dedication of those who came before us. But more than a building, we are a family – a community of believers who continue to live out our calling to love God and love our neighbors.

Today, we’re still serving strong, adapting to meet the needs of a new generation while holding fast to the timeless truths of the Gospel. We’re proud to be part of the United Methodist Church and committed to being a place where all are welcome.

What We Believe

Grace for All

We believe God’s grace is freely given to everyone. No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, you are loved by God and welcomed here.

Faith in Action

Following Jesus means more than Sunday worship – it means loving our neighbors through service. That’s why we’re actively involved in feeding the hungry, caring for those in need, and supporting our community.

Growing Together

We’re all on a journey of faith, and none of us has it all figured out. We believe in growing together through worship, study, fellowship, and honest conversation.

Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors

As United Methodists, we embrace diversity and believe that the church is stronger when all people are welcomed and valued. We’re committed to being a place where everyone can explore their faith.

Our Methodist Heritage

As a United Methodist Church, we’re part of a global family of Christians committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Our Methodist heritage emphasizes:

Scripture, Tradition, Reason, and Experience as ways of understanding God

Personal and Social Holiness – growing in faith while serving others

Connection with other United Methodist churches around the world

Grace Upon Grace – God’s love at work in every stage of life
